Shubman Gill-led India left for England from Mumbai Airport on Friday for the five-Test match series, which is a part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. The series is scheduled will take place from June to August 2025 with matches scheduled at Headingley in Leeds, Edgbaston in Birmingham, Lord's and The Oval in London, and Old Trafford in Manchester.
After Rohit's retirement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Shubman Gill as the new Test captain and wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant as his deputy. Pant, who was travelling alongside team India on June 6, hilariously responded to a fan's question who asked Where is Rohit Sharma. The wicketkeeper batter's hilarious response goes viral. Here is the clip.
"Rohit bhai Garden mein ghum rahe hain, unke Garden ki yaad to aayegi (He's enjoying in the Garden, will miss his Garden)" said Rishabh Pant
This will be India's first Test assignment after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the longest format of the game, earlier this month.
