Former India opener Wasim Jaffer advised the Shubman Gill-led side not to panic after losing the first Test match against England and also suggested them to feature with Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test match which will start from June 2 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
India lost the first Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 by five wickets, Gill's first assignment as captain. Jaffer, who often trolls former England captain Michael Vaughan, took his 'X', formerly known as Twitter, and suggested that Team India not make too many changes in the second Test.
"India had Eng on the ropes multiple times in the first test. If they'd taken their catches the result might have been different. The key is not to panic and make too many changes. But Kuldeep must play" Jaffer posted.
Interestingly, India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed that the team will feature two spinners in the second Test match, but it is yet to be confirmed who those two will be between Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. He also hinted that spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will miss the second Test despite being available for selection due to workload management.
Apart from that he also hinted the fast bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will make a cut into India's playing XI for the second Test match against England in place of vetran Shardul Thakur. Team India will announce their confirmed playing XI at the time of the toss during the second Test.
On the other hand, England who have added Jofra Archer in their playing XI for the second Test have announced their playing XI for the second Test without making a change.
England playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir.
