India moved up to the third place on WTC points table after victory in fifth Test

India defeated England by 6 runs in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as the highly entertaining five-match series ended at 2-2. The Men in Blue began the fifth day needing 4 wickets in order to win the match while on the other hand, England required 35 runs to clinch the game and the series.

However, the pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna helped India come back into the game as Sireaj first picked up the massive wicket of Jamie Smith before also sending Jamie Overton back to the dugout in his very next over. Then, Krishna joined the party and picked up the wicket of Josh Tongue, restricting England to 357/9.

The winning moment for India came in the 86th over of the innings when Siraj dismissed Gus Atkinson, bundling out the Three Lions for 367 in the process. This emphatic victory will be nothing short of a massive confidence booster for the Men in Blue, who looked to be down and out on Day 4 at The Oval.

Meanwhile, this win saw India make massive gains on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. They pipped England and reached the third position only behind table-toppers Australia and second-placed Sri Lanka. With two victories and losses each alongside a draw under their name so far, Shubman Gill & Co. have a PCT of 46.67.
