In a series of incredible events, India have tightened their grip on the second Test against Sri Lanka after showcasing a dominant display on Day 2. After Devdutt Padikkal's century, Dhruv Jurel also reached three figures as the visitors piled up 503/9 before declaring their first innings. India's bowlers then clinched two scalps before the end of day's play, reducing Sri Lanka to just eight runs and leaving the hosts facing a huge 495-run deficit.
Already 1-0 ahead in the series after winning the first Test, India have put themselves in a commanding position to complete a clean sweep.
Rain interrupts play
Rain interrupted the play on Day 2 in Colombo, preventing the full quota of overs from being completed. When play resumed for the final half an hour, Sri Lanka endured two setbacks as opener Lahiru Udara lost his wicket after scoring one before nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya fell for two. Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar picked up a wicket each, while debutant Kamil Mishara stayed unbeaten on five. Heading into Day 3, Sri Lanka's main aim will be to avoid the follow-on before attempting to reach India's huge total.

Jurel flaunts Jai Jawan Jai Kisan tattoo
After completing the century, Dhruv did his signature "Salute" celebration and showcased his "Jai Jawan, Jai Jai Kisan". Notably, it was his second century in the format. The young batter was flawless with his stroke play and maintained his calm approach.
At the end, skipper Shubman Gill declared the innings after India breached the 500-run mark. India declared their innings at 503/9. It will be interesting to see if Sri Lanka can make a comeback in this game after such a dominant batting display from India.
