Indian cricket team will be going one-on-one against Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the three-match series at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, on August 2 (Friday). This series will mark the return of the legendary duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the cricketing field since the historic triumph in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 where both of them announced their retirement from T20Is. India is coming into this match with a 3-0 clean sweep win over Sri Lanka in the T20Is and fans are now excited to see Rohit and Virat finally play again. This will also be their first series with Gautam Gambhir as the new Indian head coach. However, heavy and persistent rain is likely to play villain and spoilsport and it would not be good if bad weather does not allow the match to proceed.

The Colombo weather forecast predicts heavy chances of rain on August 2, the day of the 1st ODI. The precipitation chances will go up to almost 70 per cent, so it will likely be playing spoilsport. Rain almost played a similar role in the T20i series as well but it did not affect the result of the match. Hopefully, things stay like this and fans get to witness their favourite cricketers play. All three ODIs will be played at this venue. If rain causes a washout then the match will be called off and both teams will only have 2 more games left to get the result of this series.
