India's star wicketkeeper batter Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out from the three-match ODI series against Australia due to a wrist injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Uma Chetry as her replacement.
Yastika injured her wrist while featuring in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). BCCI shared a press note to announce the replacement for the Indian star.
"The BCCI Medical Team has confirmed that Ms. Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia due to a wrist injury. Her recovery is being closely monitored. The All India Women’s Selection Committee has named Ms. Uma Chetry as Bhatia’s replacement in the squad" said BCCI in a press note.
Yastika's replacement Uma Chetry has played four T20Is for India. She made her debut against South Africa in July. The wicketkeeper batter was the second-highest run-getter in the domestic T20 Challenger Trophy with 231 runs at a strike rate of 154.00. She was the only cricketer who smashed a century in the mega event. Uma smashed 122 off 71 balls. Chetry has played in Australia before as she was part of India A squad in August where she failed to score big. . In four matches across formats, she scored 7 and 11 in T20s, 16 in the one-dayer, and 2 and 47 in the four-day game. On the other hand, Bhatia featured in three Test matches, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is.
The first two ODIs will take place at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on December 5 and December 8 and the third clash will take place at WACA Ground in Perth on December 11.
