Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team is taking on Tahlia McGrath's Australia women's cricket team in the first ODI of the three-match series which is being played at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, on December 5 (Thursday). The Women in Blue have made a big addition to the squad with Titas Sadhu making her debut.
India enter the series having just defeated New Zealand 2-1 at home in November. Australia, on the other hand, defeated Bangladesh 3-0 in their last ODI series back in March 2024.
With a win in the forthcoming rubber, both teams will be keen to begin the build-up to the World Cup the following year. In their lengthy ODI history, Australia has defeated India 43 times out of 53 meetings, giving them the advantage. They have won 12 of the 16 games they have played against the Asian team, giving them an even more dominant record at home.
When the two teams previously faced off in an ODI series earlier this year in January, Australia proceeded as normal and won 3-0. Since India has never defeated Australia in a bilateral ODI series, they will have a formidable task ahead of them. In the approaching week, they will try to find some motivation to write history.
