Dayalan Hemalatha goes berserk in rain-hit T20I with unbeaten 24-ball 21 as India beat Bangladesh to take 2-0 lead

Highlights:

Radha Yadav was exceptional with the ball taking three wickets.Murshida Khatun played the anchor role but failed to complete her half-century.

Indian spinners dominated Bangladesh in the second T20I as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side handed them a 19-run win by Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) method. Radha Yadav registered a three-fer whereas Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil took two wickets each to restrict Bangladesh for 119. In the run chase, Dayalan Hemalatha went berserk and scored an unbeaten 24-ball 41 before rain played spoilsport.
 

Early strikes by spinners

Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss and opted to bat first. Dilara Akter hit a couple of boundaries before falling to Deepti in her first over. Murshida Khatun was dropped in the next over. Shreyanka Patil in her first over trapped Sobhana Mostary in front of the wickets. She scored 19 runs from 15 balls. Bangladesh were 43/2 after powerplay overs. Murshida and Sultana tried to stitch a partnership. In the 10th over, Radha struck twice. She dismissed Sultana lbw for a single-digit score. Next ball, she got the better of Fahima Khatun.

Murshida misses fifty

Sultana Khatun got off the mark with a boundary. But Shreyanka got the better of her with a tossed up delivery. Rain played spoilsport after 11 overs but no overs were lost. Murshida continued to anchor and took Bangladesh past 100. In Deepti's last over, Ritu Moni got bowled. She scored 20 runs from 18 balls. In the penultimate over, Radha got Rabeya Khan stumped. On the next ball, Nahida Akter was run out. In the final over, Murshida was run out off the free hit delivery. She scored 46 runs from 49 balls. On the final ball of the innings, Fariha Trisna got bowled by Pooja Vastrakar.

Hemalatha goes berserk

In the run chase, Marufa got Shafali Verma out for a golden duck. Hemalatha smashed the first six of the innings. Smriti Mandhana knocked the ball around singles while Hemalatha took advantage of fielding restrictions. On the second ball of the sixth over, she hit a boundary off Marufa before it started drizzling again. India were 47/1 after 5.2 overs. 
 

The play could not resume and India won the game by 19 runs as per DLS method. India were way ahead of the par score as Hemalatha hit five fours and two sixes in her 24-ball 41.
 

After taking a 2-0 lead in the five-T20I series, India will take on Bangladesh at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on May 2.
