In what was a low-scoring encounter, India succumbed to a seven-wicket loss to England in the final match of the ongoing T20I series taking place in Bristol on Thursday (September 15) night. Leading the line for their Englishwomen were their spinners, especially Sophie Ecclestone (3), who, along with Bryony Smith (1) bagged four wickets among themselves to restrict India to a subpar score of 122.
Chasing this total was an easy feat for the World Cup runners-up, who finished the match with 10 balls to spare and lost just three wickets.
Openers Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt got off to a great start, stitching a partnership of 70 runs in just 59 balls before Sneh Rana provided the breakthrough. Wyatt tried to lift the ball over wide long-on but his mistimed shot only found the safe palms of Radha Yadav.
Dunkley soon followed suit, with Pooja Vastrakar's pinpoint delivery straight on middle and leg finding the stumps. The young opener fell short of her half-century by two runs.
'It was smooth sailing for England after that, however, with the teenager Alice Capsey 'capping' an excellent series with an unbeaten 38 runs to take her team over the line. She took just 24 balls to lead England to victory, and struck the ball at a strike rate of 158.33.
