The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently highlighted concerns regarding the bowling action of Chetan Sakariya, the left-arm pacer from Saurashtra. Despite not facing an immediate ban, Sakariya has been included in a list of seven players with suspect actions, as per the BCCI's latest communication to Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

Sakariya, known for his impressive stint in 19 IPL matches and representing India in one ODI and two T20Is, has been under scrutiny, although the exact details of when his action was reported remain unclear. The Saurashtra Cricket Association and individuals close to the player were unaware of his inclusion in this list.

While the BCCI has confirmed Sakariya's reporting, they have not barred him from bowling. Presently, Sakariya is recovering from a stress fracture in his back. He was recently released from the Delhi Capitals franchise and is expected to return to cricket soon, possibly featuring in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.

Sidelined since the last IPL, Sakariya has not played in recent domestic tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has set his base price at Rs 50 lakh for the upcoming IPL auction and is listed as number 27 on the auction register.

This list from the BCCI also includes other notable domestic players such as Tanush Kotian from the Mumbai Cricket Association, Rohan Kunnummal from Kerala, Chirag Gandhi from Gujarat, Salman Nizar from Kerala, Saurabh Dubey from Vidarbha, and Arpit Guleria from Himachal Pradesh. In addition, Manish Pandey and KL Shrijith from Karnataka have been barred from bowling due to their actions.

These developments suggest a proactive stance from the BCCI in monitoring and regulating bowling actions, ensuring adherence to standards and fairness in competitive cricket. The focus on Sakariya and others indicates the board's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport, particularly as these players are integral to their respective teams and the larger cricketing ecosystem.
