The countdown for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has begun and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opener on March 22.

The Highest Total


The record for the highest score in IPL history belongs to RCB. On 23 April 2013, playing at their home ground in Bangalore, RCB scored 263 runs for 5 wickets against Pune Warriors. This remains the highest score in the league to date. The Warriors lost the match by 130 runs.

 

Lowest Total


RCB also holds the record for the lowest score in the history of the Indian Premier League. Against KKR on 23 April 2017, RCB was all out for 49 runs in 9.4 overs, chasing a target of 132 runs.

 

Batter with Most Runs in IPL
 

The record for the most runs in the league is held by RCB's Virat Kohli. Between 2008 and 2023, Kohli scored 7263 runs in 237 matches. He has 7 centuries and 50 fifties to his name.

 

Most Wickets in IPL history


The record for the most wickets in IPL history belongs to Yuzvendra Chahal. From 2013 to 2023, Chahal took 187 wickets in 145 matches. His best performance is taking 5 wickets for 40 runs. Chahal has been part of three teams: Mumbai Indians, RCB, and Rajasthan Royals.

Team with the Most victories in IPL


Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, have won the most matches in the IPL. In 16 seasons, Mumbai played a total of 247 matches and won 138 of them.

 

Biggest Victory


Mumbai Indians hold the record for the biggest victory in terms of runs in IPL history. They defeated Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs on 6 May 2017.

 

Biggest chase in IPL history


Rajasthan Royals hold the record for achieving the highest target in the IPL. On 27 September 2020, Punjab Kings set a target of 224 runs, which Rajasthan achieved by scoring 226 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

 

Highest Individual Score

Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score in the IPL. Playing for RCB, Gayle scored an unbeaten 175 runs against Pune Warriors.

 

Most Runs in a Season


Virat Kohli holds the record for the most runs in a single IPL season. In the 2016 season, playing for RCB, Virat Kohli scored 973 runs.

 

Most Sixes


Chris Gayle holds the record for the most sixes in an IPL career. Playing for KKR, RCB, and Punjab Kings from 2009 to 2021, Gayle hit 357 sixes.

Most Wickets

Most Wickets in a Season


RCB's Harshal Patel made a remarkable achievement in the IPL 2021 by taking 32 wickets, becoming the bowler with the most wickets in a single season.

 

Bowler who conceded Most Runs in a Match


Basil Thampi conceded the most runs in a single IPL match. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad against RCB in 2018, he gave away 70 runs.

 

Highest Partnership in IPL

 

The record for the highest partnership in the IPL belongs to RCB's Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Together, they put up a partnership of 229 runs for the second wicket against Gujarat Lions on May 14, 2016.
