After missing the entirety of the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer joined the team on March 16 (Saturday). Iyer, who missed the previous season of the cash-rich tournament due to a back injury, is set to take part in the team's training camp from Sunday. The KKR franchise announced the arrival of their talismanic leader through a post on social media platforms.
Will Shreyas Iyer miss IPL 2024 matches?
Earlier, ambiguous reports claimed that Shreyas Iyer's back problem had resurfaced and that there was a chance that the Mumbaikar might miss a few matches to start the IPL 2024 season. Later, it was revealed that Iyer was set to join the KKR franchise for the training camp and was declared fit to start the upcoming season of the glitzy league.
Iyer participated in the Ranji Trophy final
After playing the first two Test matches of India's home series against England, Iyer was released from the squad for the remaining three Tests. After constant warnings from the BCCI, Iyer returned to play the Ranji Trophy semi-final for Mumbai and also featured in the final against Vidarbha.
While Iyer failed to perform in the only innings he batted in the semi-final and the first innings of the final, the stylish batter played a 95-run knock in the second innings of the final. The knock would have done a world of good to Iyer's confidence and he would look to make an impact in the IPL and lead his team from the front.
