Chennai Super Kings star player Ravindra Jadeja helped his team pick up a crucial 28-run win over Punjab Kings in match 53 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala, on May 5 (Sunday). He put on a great all-round performance and ensured that CSK re-entered the top four of the points table. After the team's stunning victory, Jadeja highlighted his role in the Chennai team.
Jadeja highlights his role in CSK
Ravindra Jadeja put on an astonishing performance with both bat and ball. He grabbed three big wickets in his four-over spell and just gave away only 20 runs. Then he also smashed 43 runs off 26 balls and helped his team post a fighting total. Jadeja won the Player of the Match award for his performance and revealed that his role in CSK is to build partnerships if they lose early wickets.
“Was a day game so the wicket was slow. It was expected to be slow because it was quite warm. Wanted to build a partnership of 30-40 so that we have a platform for the end. The bowlers bowled well. Always looks a flat wicket in powerplay. But as the ball gets older, it doesn't come on very well. When you're playing at a new venue, you don't have an idea of how the pitch will be. Felt we were 15-20 short. My role is to build a partnership if we lose early wickets,” said Ravindra Jadeja in the post-match presentation.
CSK re-enter top four
Chennai Super Kings avenged their loss against Punjab Kings at the Chepauk Stadium and picked up their first win against PBKS after five consecutive losses and three years. CSK jumped to the third spot from the number three from 5th. They now have 12 points in 11 matches and they have gained a major boost to their playoff chances with this win.
