The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season opener will witness defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai on March 22, as per the schedule announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 22.
KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will start their campaign on March 24 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.
Their second match is scheduled against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 30 in Lucknow. After this, the LSG team will travel to Bengaluru to face RCB on April 2. Their fourth and final match will be against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 6 in Lucknow.

LSG have signed West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph as a replacement for Mark Wood. Joseph will join LSG for Rs. 3 Crore.
On March 30, LSG picked Matt Henry as a replacement for the England all-rounder David Willey, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to personal reasons. Henry has joined LSG at his base price of INR 1.25 crores.

The Lucknow-based franchise made its IPL debut in 2022. They reached the playoffs in their inaugural season. Key players acquired during the February 2022 mega auction included Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Mark Wood, and Marcus Stoinis.
31-year-old Rahul was appointed captain, with Andy Flower as head coach and Gautam Gambhir as team mentor.
In the 2022 season, the LSG team finished third in the group stage but was eliminated by RCB in the playoffs. In 2023, they finished third again but were knocked out by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the eliminator.
