Meanwhile, in another match, Tata Sports Club decisively beat Indian Oil by 60 runs in the second quarter-final at the DY Patil University Ground, advancing to the semi-finals.

Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 99 for losing cause

DY Patil Blue's innings was highlighted by a 52-run opening partnership between Abhijit Tomar and Dhawan. Dhawan remained not out, scoring 99 from 51 balls, featuring eight fours and six sixes, even as his team faced setbacks, at one point falling to 98 for four. Sanveer Singh (2-30) and Writwick Chatterjee (2-23) were standout bowlers for CAG, which chased down the target of 183, finishing at 185 for four in 19.1 overs, thanks to Varun Lavande's 73 and Sanveer Singh's swift 45.

 

Dhawan is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 where he will be leading Punjab Kings (PBKS). IPL 2024 is set to start from March 22 and Dhawan-led PBKS will play their first match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 23 in Mohali.

Sufiyan, Chinmay star in Tata Sports Club's win

Meanwhile, Tata Sports Club posted a formidable 232 for five from their allotted overs, with notable contributions from Sufiyan Shaikh (64) and Chinmay Sutar (61). They shared a 107-run partnership for the second wicket. Despite Rohan Raje's (2-38) efforts, Indian Oil struggled, losing wickets consistently. Shorabh Phaliwal shined for Tata with 3-15, leading to Indian Oil being all out for 172 in 19.4 overs.
