Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill feels that his partnership with Vijay Shankar against Royals Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is the most hated in the history of the cash-rich tournament. During the match against RCB, Gill belted 104 off 52 balls and built a 123-run stand along with Vijay Shankar, who hit 53 runs off 35 deliveries. RCB needed to win their final league match against GT to qualify for the playoffs but they lost by six wickets.
Jio Cinema has uploaded a video on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) in which Gill jokingly spoke about how his partnership with Vijay Shankar was the most hated one.
"I think this is the most hated partnership in the IPL (laughs with Vijay Shankar). Even in the Indian team, Siraj (who plays for RCB) told me that they don't talk about my innings as much as they do about Vijay. He was playing anything," Shubman Gill said in a video posted by Jio Cinema.

IPL 2023 was a stellar season for Gill where he scored a staggering 890 runs from 17 matches including three tons and four half-centuries. However, GT lost the final on the final ball against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Later in the year, Gill was appointed as the captain of the GT after Hardik Pandya left the side for Mumbai Indians (MI).
On April 10, Shubman Gill-led GT registered a three-wicket win over Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR). With this win, GT broke the winning streak of RR and handed their first defeat of the IPL 2024 season at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. GT’s third win moved the Titans up to sixth in the IPL points table, while Rajasthan remained at the top of the table. Royals posted a daunting target of 197 and Gujarat successfully chased down and secured a remarkable win with 199/7.
