Mumbai Indians (MI) are stuck at the bottom of the points table. They had a really disappointing outing this season as they could only win four out of their 13 matches. Moreover, their new skipper Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was under the scanner and at the receiving end of heavy criticism. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag expressed on the matter and believes that Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav are the two players who MI can retain ahead of next year’s mega auction and not Hardik or Rohit Sharma. He further questioned the performances of other players.
"Tell me something. Having Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan in one film won't guarantee a hit. Will it? You will have to perform, right? You need a good script. Similarly, all these big names will have to come together and perform on the ground. Rohit Sharma scored one century and MI lost. Where are the rest of the performances? Ishan Kishan played the entire season and he couldn't last beyond the Powerplay. Only two names are certainties at this stage for MI – Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav. They will be the top two names retained. And if it then boils down to the third or 4th option," Virender Sehwag said in a conversation on Cricbuzz.

MI's next skipper
Along with Sehwag, former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary also advised the MI management to look at Suryakumar and Bumrah as their next skipper and reckoned that Rohit Sharma doesn’t want to be retained.
"I am also looking at Bumrah and SKY as the two players who will be retained by Mumbai Indians. No one beyond them, and no foreign players either. Tim David has not lived up to the hype. My advice to the management would be to retain just two players – Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah – and make one of the two captains. I am not keeping Rohit either because, looking at him, it appears he doesn't want to be retained," said Tiwary.
MI to face LSG
Hardik Pandya-led side will be hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last match of this season. However, MI are out of the playoff contentions and LSG are practically out too. But MI and LSG would want to end the season on a high note with a win. LSG have won six out of 13 matches and MI have only four wins in 13 games.
