590 players register for IPL 2022 mega auction, list includes most overseas players from Australia

The list of 590 players who will be going under the hammer in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction is out. This list includes 370 Indian and 220 overseas players. The mega auction is scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13.

 

A total of 48 players have registered in the auction for a base price of Rs 2 crore. Also, there are 20 players who have chosen the Rs 1.5 crore base price whereas 34 players have gone for the Rs 1 crore base price. 

 

Since, a major reshuffle is on the cards with two new franchises placing bids in the auction, the prominent Indian players going under the hammer include Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Suresh Raina, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and others.

 

Since there was a limit to the player retentions, mainly for overseas players, the hot favourite list of international players includes Faf du Plessis, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, Dwayne Bravo, Shakib Al Hasan, Wanindu Hasaranga and others. 

 

Punjab Kings (PBKS) will have the most to spend in the auction as they will go into the auction with Rs 72 crore in their purse. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals (DC) will go in with Rs 47.5 crore in their purse, the least amount among all franchise including the Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad. 

 

At 47, most number of registrations have come from Australia. One player each from nations like Nepal, Zimbabwe and USA have registered for the mega event. Two Scotland, three Namibia and five Ireland players are in the list as well.
