India's high-profile batter and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul and Bollywood actor Athiya Shetty are all set to tie nuptial knot later this year, as per reports. Athiya Shetty is a daughter of Bollywood veteran actor Suniel Shetty and Mana Shetty.
Rahul and Athiya have been dating for over three years now and it has been learnt that love birds are now ready to take their relationship to the next step. According to a report in Pinkvilla.com, the marriage is all set for a 2022 ‘Winter’ Wedding.
The couple made their relationship official through Instagram last year after the cricketer posted an affectionate birthday post for his soon to be wife on her 29th birthday. Sharing an adorable picture of the two making silly faces, Rahul captained the post, “happy birthday my [heart emoji].”
Athiya has been a regular feature at all LSG games, cheering KL Rahul and his team in the IPL 2022.
Recently, Athiya Shetty, along with her father Suniel Shetty and their family members were also present at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as they cheered for KL Rahul's LSG during the IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
On Tuesday (April 19), LSG lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 18 runs with Rahul making 30 off 24 balls. LSG were chasing 182 to win, but could only manage 163/8 in their 20 overs. Rahul, though, ticked a personal milestone even in defeat as he became the third quickest batter to complete 6000 T20 runs. Rahul took 179 innings to touch the milestone which is five less than what Virat Kohli took to reach the milestone.
Rahul had celebrated his 30th birthday couple of days back and Athiya had shared an emotional post wishing the cricketer. She wrote,” anywhere with you, happy birthday”, accompanied by a few of their photos. Suniel Shetty also had a beautiful wish for Rahul that read on his picture- "Work hard in silence, let success be your noise."
According to the publication, both families are close to each other as well. Athiya's brother Ahan and father Suniel Shetty seem to be close to the sportsman and have often stood up to his defence to shut down trolls during his cricket matches.
Athiya and Rahul have often been spotted together. However, they have always remained tight-lipped about their relationship.
