IPL 2022: After Lucknow, Ahmedabad franchise also announces name of the team

With the advent of two new teams (Lucknow and Ahmedabad), the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League 2022 will have 10 teams vying for the prestigous trophy. In a situation like this the Ahmedabad franchise, on February 9 (Wednesday) has announced the name of the team for the upcoming season of the IPL 2022. The Ahmedabad franchise has named the team as Gujarat Titans. 

 

Lucknow franchise naming the team

Previously, the other new franchise of the upcoming edition of IPL, Lucknow franchise named their team as Lucknow Supergiants.

 

Earlier, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was announced as the captain of the Ahmedabad-based team. 

 

The mega auctions for the 15th season of the IPL will be organised in Bangalore on February 12 and February 13 and the tournament is expected to start in the last week of March.

 

Important players in the squad

It is important to mention that the Ahmedabad franchise had previously roped in three players for the upcoming 2022 season of IPL.

 

Apart from skipper Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was also retained by paying an amount of Rs 15 crore.

 

On the other hand, Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill was also included to the team after paying an amount of Rs 8 crores. Now the mega auction of IPL which is scheduled to be held in Bangalore on February 12 and 13 will be an interesting event as everyone will be eager to see which players Ahmedabad franchise is going to rope in for the upcoming edition of the IPL. 

 

On the other hand, the Lucknow franchise had announced KL Rahul as their leader for the upcoming edition of IPL. Apart from Rahul, they also roped in two more players. Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and India's Ravi Bishonoi were added to the squad as well.

Stoinis was roped in for Rs 9.2 crores as Bishnoi was signed for Rs 4 crores.

 

Regarding the venues, it is believed that the IPL will take place in Maharashtra. Three stadiums in Mumbai and one ground Pune are reported to hold the IPL matches. It is needless to mention that the upcoming edition of IPL will be held in bio-bubble keeping threats of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in mind.
