'You're a champion and you're gonna...': Kolkata Knight Riders cheer up Yash Dayal with a heartwarming message

Two-time Indian Premier League champions (IPL) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered an improbable victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 9 (Sunday). Riding on 'miracle man' Rinku Singh's outrageous stroke-making, KKR defeated the defending champions by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Knight Riders needed 29 runs off the last over and Rinku exploded at the world's largest cricket stadium in a belligerent fashion.

The left-handed batter unleashed five consecutive sixes in the last five balls of the match and rolled out one of the most memorable victories for any team in any sport and in any format.

GT pacer Yash Dayal was on the receiving end of Rinku's carnage. Even in his worst nightmare, the left-arm pacer wouldn't have envisioned the kind of beating he received on Sunday.

While everyone applauded Rinku for his phenomenal batting, and rightly so, the KKR franchise spared a thought for Dayal and posted a heartwarming message for the young pacer.

"Chin up, lad. Just a hard day at the office, happens to the best of players in cricket. You're a champion, @imyash_dayal, and you're gonna come back strong," KKR wrote on Instagram.

Here's how the last over bowled by Yash Dayal transpired:

Ball 1: Umesh Yadav took a single which brought Rinku back on the striker's end.

Ball 2: Rinky made space for himself and hit Dayal for a six over extra cover.

Ball 3: Dayal followed it up with a full toss that was deposited over the backward square leg boundary for a six.

Ball 4: Dayal erred again and the full toss was hit over the long-off boundary.

Ball 5: Dayal bowled a short-of-a-length ball that was picked by Rinku and flat-batted over long-on.

Ball 6: KKR needed four off the final ball and Rinku smashed it over long-on to seal a famous win for KKR.

In the end, Rinku remained unbeaten on 48 runs off 21 balls and Dayal was left distraught.
