Mumbai Indians (MI) star all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who starred in defending champions’ six-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, achieved a personal milestone during the match. The West Indian created history by becoming the first cricketer in T20 format to aggregate 10,000 runs and scalp 300 wickets.

The 34-year old achieved the feat when he was bowling the seventh over of the innings, where he sent the PBKS captain KL Rahul back to the pavilion. The mighty all-rounder also removed compatriot Chris Gayle in the same over.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony on his new achievement, the veteran said, “Very important. Bowling’s a bit under-rated. I just try to do my best whenever I get the opportunity. If needed, Rohit would have thrown the ball for me another over, but sometimes you just quit when you’re ahead.”

Pollard returned with the figures of 2/8, removing the danger man Gayle and in-form Rahul. Meanwhile, Pollard is hopeful that the team’s victory after three consecutive defeats will charge up the team ahead of the upcoming matches.

The defending champions are now fifth on the points table with 10 points from 11 games and will face second-placed Delhi Capitals on October 2 in Sharjah.
