Plenty of speculations have taken place regarding the appointment of a possible new skipper of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings. Players like Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal have been in contention to become the leader of the Punjab Kings franchise.
Indian left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was roped in by Punjab Kings franchise for an amount of Rs 8.25 crore.

Ahead of the mega auction for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, the Punjab Kings side retained two players and those were- Indian batter Mayank Agarwal for a whopping amount of Rs 14 crore and Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for Rs 4 crore.
While talking about the possible new captain of the team, the Co-owner of the Punjab Kings franchise Mohit Burman spoke extensively on the matter.

“I think it’s a big advantage to have a senior player who has played with you before to lead the team. He understands the thinking of the coach,” Burman was quoted while talking to News9 Sports.
“He has a good rapport with the coaches and the idea is to give him a strong bunch of players who fill up all the positions,” he further added.
While talking about the strategies, Punjab Kings had opted for at the mega auction, Burman said that their “strategy was to put very strong lieutenants in every position.”
“Our strategy was to put very strong lieutenants in every position so it would be much easier for the captain to not only lead but be a team player. Therefore, I wanted to give an equal playing side which will come across as a strong team than to have one strong leader.” Burman commented on the final squad.
At the mega auction for the IPL 2022, Punjab Kings spent a big amount of Rs 9.25 crore for South African pacer Kagiso Rabada.
