Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes 4th Indian batter to achieve rare feat on IPL debut
14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his IPL debut in the absence of captain Sanju Samson. His first-ball six helped him enter IPL record books.

14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 19. While Suryavanshi became the youngest to play in the IPL history, his first-ball six helped him enter the list of unique batters.

Suryavanshi smashed Shardul Thakur for a massive six to make jaws drop on the very first ball he faced in his IPL career. He became the fourth Indian batter to achieve this feat. Here is a list of other three Indian batters to hit a first-ball six.

For Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Aniket Choudhary hit Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Ben Cutting for a first-ball six. SRH won the match by 35 runs.

Opening for Mumbai Indians (MI), Siddhesh Lad hit Punjab Kings' (PBKS) Ankit Rajpoot for a six on the first ball he faced. After his cameo, MI beat PBKS by 3 wickets in a last-ball thriller as captain Kieron Pollard scored 83 runs from 31 balls.

For Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sameer Rizvi hit Gujarat Titans' (GT) star leg-spinner Rashid for a six in his debut innings. Rizvi contributed with a cameo and CSK beat GT by 63 runs.

Meanwhile, Suryavanshi's 20-ball 34 cameo went in vain as RR failed to chase down 181 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Avesh Khan dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in the 18th over to stage LSG's comeback as they won by 2 runs.

There have been six overseas batters who have hit a first-ball six in their debut IPL innings. RR's Rob Quiney, Kevon Cooper, KKR's Andre Russell, and Javon Searless, Delhi Daredevils' (now Delhi Capitals) Carlos Brathwaite and CSK's Maheesh Theekshana have hit a first-ball six as well.
