Shashank's dropped catch left Arshdeep Singh agitated

A critical fielding blunder took place that left Punjab Kings (PBKS) visibly frustrated during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 25. Punjab Kings' pacer Arshdeep Singh expressed his clear disappointment after teammate Shashank Singh dropped what should have been a straightforward catch, a lapse the team will surely look to move past.

The incident unfolded in the third over when Arshdeep delivered a short ball to DC opener KL Rahul. Rahul attempted a pull shot toward deep square leg, sending the ball high into the air. Shashank Singh, stationed near the boundary, settled under the ball and appeared perfectly positioned to complete the dismissal.

However, as Shashank attempted to secure the catch using a reverse cup technique while backing up, he mishandled the ball at the last moment. It slipped through his hands and trickled for a boundary, leaving Arshdeep stunned and visibly angry, as the bowler had already begun his celebration. The gravity of the missed opportunity was felt throughout the stadium, with PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta appearing visibly dismayed in the stands as the pivotal chance went begging.
