In a series of big events, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South Africa's Dian Forrester as an injury replacement for Jamie Overton, who has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament because of a right thigh injury.

The 25-year-old batting all-rounder has been signed for Rs 75 lakh. Forrester made his international debut in T20I series against New Zealand, where he managed to amass 83 runs. 

The left-arm batter is coming after a impactful SA20 for CSK's sister concern franchise Joburg Super Kings, scoring 175 runs at an average of 58.33 with an aggressive strike rate of 154.86. However, he did get a chance to display his bowling skills for the Johannesburg-based franchise, as he purely featured as a specialist lower-middle order batter because of the squad's depth.

Forrester's batting record in T20s and List A

To get a full picture of his skills, the South African player has played 36 T20s, where he has scored 681 runs at an average of 35.84. with an impressive strike rate of 140.70. Meanwhile, in 20 List A innings the left handed batter has managed to score 900 runs at an average of 52.94 with a strike rate of 103.56.

Forrester's bowling record in T20s and List A

With the ball, the right-arm pacer has taken 11 wickets in 19 T20 innings with an economy rate of 9.33 and a bowling average of 19.4. Meanwhile, in List A cricket Forrester has clinched 18 wickets in 18 innings at an economy rate of 5.51.

Big loss for CSK

Overton’s absence is a massive blow to the CSK bowling attack, as he currently stands as their second-highest wicket-taker this season. He has claimed 14 wickets at an impressive average of 17.78 and an economy rate of 8.89. His value was most recently highlighted on May 11 at Chepauk, where his figures of 3 for 36 earned him Player of the Match honors in a five-wicket victory over LSG. The English all-rounder is the second highest wicket-taker for CSK after Anshul Kamboj (19 wickets) in the ongoing competition.
