Former South Africa wicketkeeper batter Mark Boucher backed struggling Mumbai Indians(MI)  veteran batter Rohit Sharma ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Boucher, who is a former MI head coach, believes that Rohit is showing signs of returning to rhythm in the cash-rich league and a big knock from him is around the corner. 

Rohit is currently going through a lean patch of his career, The former MI captain failed to reach the 0-run mark in six matches this season, with the 26 he scored against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday being his highest score. Rohit has played 6 matches in IPL 2025, where he managed to score 82 runs.

"Rohit Sharma took it upon himself to go after the bowlers. We saw some good old-fashioned Rohit Sharma sixes - big ones too. I liked his attitude," Boucher, a former Mumbai Indians head coach, said.

 

"He put the bowlers under pressure, created scoring opportunities. He was just past the 30-mark -- a big score is coming very soon. He’s looking in that zone again,” he told 'Jiostar'.

Rohit will now be seen in action during MI's upcoming IPL 2025 clash against CSK which is scheduled to take place on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This will be the second time that arch-rivals MI and CSK will be facing each other. Earlier, both teams faced each other during their opener clash of the tournament, where Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK defeated MI by four wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

After a forgettable start, MI are currently working hard for a comeback. The Hardik Pandya-led side are placed seventh in the points table after registering consecutive wins against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively. In total MI played seven matches so far, where they managed to register three wins.
