Bangalore, Chandigarh likely to host IPL 2026 playoffs and final
Although these venues are currently the frontrunners, officials have emphasised that a definitive decision has not yet been reached. Coordination between the league and local authorities is ongoing to finalise the logistics. A formal announcement is expected shortly, once all stakeholders have concluded their deliberations and confirmed the venue lineup for the tournament's concluding stages.
"We are still in discussion to finalise the venues but since RCB is the defending champion and Punjab runners up you might see these two venues as playoffs and final. It's yet not decided and a call will be taken soon," a top source in the know of development told Sports Tak.
The logistical blueprint for the 2026 season sees RCB splitting their home advantage across two distinct locations. While the franchise is scheduled to host five matches at their traditional base in Bengaluru, the remaining two home fixtures will take place in Raipur. The return to their home turf was made possible after the Karnataka government provided the necessary clearances just before the campaign kicked off, ensuring the defending champions could play in front of their dedicated local supporters.
The Punjab Kings have adopted a similar multi-city approach for their home campaign. The franchise is slated to play four of its matches at the New Chandigarh stadium before shifting its base to the scenic heights of Dharamshala for their final three home games. To date, both Bengaluru and Punjab have completed two home fixtures each at their primary venues, setting the stage for the travel-heavy middle phase of the tournament.
As the league progresses through its opening stages, the focus is now shifting toward the selection of playoff venues. While the schedule is currently centered on these regional hubs, a formal decision regarding where the knockout matches will be held is expected in the near future.
