GT's Jason Holder celebrates a wicket during IPL 2026 Qualifier 1; Rasikh Dar celebrates with teammates Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli after taking a wicket.

Story Highlights:

Jason Holder dismissed Virat Kohli & Devdutt Padikkal in the same over.

As Holder departed for a duck, Padikkal copied the GT all-rounder's celebration.

Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier 1 as he picked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal’s wickets in the same over. The Caribbean all-rounder’s celebration was imitated by Padikkal when he got out cheaply in the mammoth run chase of 255.

The video of the celebration has gone viral on social media -

In the sixth over, Holder arrived to bat at no.6. He faced two deliveries against Rasikh Salam Dar and then decided to take on the attacking option. Dar bowled a cross-seam short delivery. Holder went for the shot but the impact was high on the bat. The ball barely crossed mid-on as Josh Hazlewood took an easy catch. Virat Kohli came running towards Dar to celebrate the wicket. Meanwhile, Padikkal tried to copy Holder’s celebration while the latter walked back to the dugout.

Holder fiery with ball, yet to fire with bat

Holder has done well in his maiden season for GT, taking 15 wickets from nine outings at an average of 16.46. His economy rate is 7.63 runs per over. However, he is yet to make an impact with the bat. He has 58 runs from six innings at a strike rate of 123.40. His numbers are similar to that of Glenn Phillips who replaced him but Holder has had good numbers with the ball. Also, GT’s top-order has been doing well, not leaving too many deliveries for the middle or lower-middle order.

After the 92-run loss, GT will go up against the winner of Eliminator (Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Rajasthan Royals). The Qualifier 2 will take place on May 29 in Mullanpur.
