PBKS got the Ferguson boost right ahead of their clash against DC

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have received another boost after Cooper Connolly's return as New Zealand's tearaway pacer Lockie Ferguson has reached India to link up with the Shreyas Iyer-led side for the remainder of IPL 2026.

The senior fast bowler has yet to feature in a match for Punjab Kings in the ongoing season, largely due to a combination of international duties and personal commitments. After representing New Zealand in their recent home T20I series against South Africa, the 34-year-old took a necessary leave of absence to spend time with his family following the birth of his son.

Before Ferguson, Connolly joined the PBKS squad as he returned from Australia after his fitness assessment.

PBKS's dominance in IPL 2026

Talking about PBKS' performance, they currently stand as the only unbeaten team in the 2026 IPL, and their squad now appears even more balanced with the return of Ferguson alongside Cooper Connolly. Under the captaincy of Iyer, the team has been dominant, securing five wins and one no-result from their six outings. This impressive run has placed them firmly at the top of the points table, boasting a formidable net run rate (NRR) of +1.420, the highest in the league by a significant margin.

PBKS are now set to face Delhi Capitals in the highly anticipated 'Northern derby', which will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 25. A victory for PBKS in this fixture would further their dominance in the ongoing season and bring them one step closer to confirming a spot in the playoffs.

On the other hand, DC are placed sixth in the points table with three wins in a total of six matches.
