Abhishek Sharma speaks on Prithvi Shaw.

Prithvi Shaw went unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction.

He was previously with Delhi Capitals.

Prithvi Shaw has experienced the lowest point in his career, having gone from being considered the next big thing in Indian cricket to not being sold in the IPL auction. Shaw's cricket career has been turbulent, as evidenced by the fact that he was left out of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad for their match against Tripura in the third round. Though he was able to secure a spot in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024–25, the 25-year-old's situation worsened when he failed to sell at the IPL 2025 auction, despite maintaining his base price at INR 75 lakh.

In an exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, rising Indian star Abhishek Sharma talked about his U19 captain Prithvi Shaw. He praised the batter and hoped he would make a comeback.

"Everyone knows what a great batsman he is. He was our captain. He will make a good comeback, everyone hopes that he will make a comeback soon," Abhishek Sharma told Sports Tak.

Abhishek Sharma also talked about his other U19 teammate Shubman Gill and spoke about his conversation with Gill on the Zimbabwe tour.

"Shubman has achieved a lot for Team India. In such a situation, I got a chance to play and I did not talk much and focused on myself," said Abhishek Sharma

Parth Jindan on Prithvi Shaw

Jindal in an exclusive conversation with Sports Today said that although Shaw is a wonderful kid, he needed a wake-up call. Shaw needs to put in a lot of effort, rediscover his passion for the game, and develop discipline. Jindal concluded by expressing his optimism that the Mumbai batter would be able to get back to his peak.

"Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt. All your life you grow up hearing that you are the special one, you're the most talented, you're the only other batter in the world other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to have a MRF bat. That tells you a lot about what everyone thought about him," said Parth Jindal.

"People calling you Lara, somebody calling you Sachin, someone else calling you the next big thing. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket talking big about you. I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed. Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract, he was playing for Mumbai across all formats, and was someone starting for DC atleast. I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets, get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined," he added.

"Talent is there for everyone to see. I love the boy and I hope he gets back to the basics and hopes he comes back and be the Prithvi Shaw we all know he can be," Jindal concluded.
