Weeks after the unfortunate stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) victory celebrations that claimed 11 lives and left over 50 injured, the Board of Control for Cricket has come up with guidelines for future celebrations of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. The BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia as said that strict guidelines are being formed which will be mandatory for franchises to follow during their victory celebrations.
"We are working on each and every aspect of secruity, be it state government's permission or the police. We are going to formalise strict rule for IPL victory celebrations." Saikia told Sports Tak.
As per the new guidelines, no team will be allowed to hold victory celebrations within a very short span of time of three to four days.
The franchise will have to take permission from the BCCI before organising the ceremony. Then, security and event permission should be obtained from the district administration police and state government.
During the celebrations, level 4 to 5 security is mandatory. The BCCI will need to provide security to the team from airport to the event's venue.
The official guidelines will be made public later this month. All franchises will have to adhere to the protocols starting next year.
