Highlights:

1574 players have signed up for IPL 2025 Auction.

However, not all players will not go under hammer.

1574 players have signed up for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, which is scheduled to take place in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah on November 24 and 25. This information was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). There are 1165 Indian players among the registered players, 48 of whom have earned caps. The list consists of 409 foreign players, 30 of whom are from associate countries, and 107 of whom have not yet participated in international cricket.

Only a maximum of 204 players will be sold. This is due to the fact that each team may assemble a roster of up to 25 players, including no more than eight foreign players. The ten franchises have already kept 46 players.

Why teams won't bid on all 1574 players

Even though 1574 participants have signed up for the auction, not all of them will be going under the hammer. The whole list of players available for grabs, together with information on which set they will be in and their basic price, will be made public by the BCCI in a few days.

For instance, just 333 players made the final shortlist out of the 1166 who registered for the auction that was held in Dubai last year. Only 600 of the 1214 players that registered for the 2022 mega auction made the final roster.

Furthermore, not all of the players on the final shortlist will be eliminated. Each team will be asked to submit a list of players they would like to see available for purchase once the expedited round begins, and only those selected by at least one franchise will be put up for sale. After Set 18, the bidding war in the 2022 mega auction proceeded to the accelerated round (Player 161).
