Good news for KKR, Mustafizur Rahman gets NOC to skip national duty and play entire IPL 2026

Bangladesh’s left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to be available for the entirety of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. As per a report by Cricbuzz, Mustafizur has got the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be available for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and miss home series against New Zealand which will take during the IPL 2026.

Mustafizur had registered for the highest base price of Rs 2 crore. His named in the IPL 2026 mini-auction started a three-way bidding war. At first, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) raised the rapidly for the experienced campaigner. Later, his former franchise DC bowed out. Then, KKR jumped in. In the end, CSK gave up and KKR roped him in for Rs 9.2 crore.

Taskin says Mustafizur deserves more

Mustafizur’s pace-bowling partner, Taskin Ahmed is happy that the 30-year-old became the most expensive Bangladesh player in the IPL. Taskin wouldn’t have been surprised if he went for double the price.

“You can see it yourself. Fizz is a proven performer in world cricket. Even if he had gone for 18 crore instead of 9, it wouldn't have been surprising. He deserves it," Taskin said.

 

 

"He has played many matches in the IPL and performed well. He was outstanding in the ILT20. This doesn't surprise me at all. I believe Fizz deserves even more," the pacer added.

Mustafizur was KKR's third-most expensive signing at the mini-auction, after Australia's Cameron Green (Rs 25.20 crore) and Matheesha Pathirana (Rs 18 crore).

Mustafizur’s IPL career so far

Mustafizur who made his IPL debut in 2016, has played for five franchises so far. He claimed 17 wickets for SRH in their IPL-winning campaign. For Mumbai Indians (MI), he played just one game in IPL 2021. He joined DC in 2022 edition and claimed nine wickets from 10 games across two seasons. He became a vital cog in Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) lineup before leaving for national duty. In the previous season, he was roped in by DC as their replacement player for Jake Fraser-McGurk when the IPL was postponed due to military conflict on India-Pakistan border.
