Gujarat Titans and England's veteran wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has committed his domestic future to Lancashire by signing a new three-year contract extension. This fresh agreement ensures that the explosive right-handed batter will remain with the Red Rose County until the conclusion of the 2028 domestic season.
Jos Buttler extends contract with Lancashire
Buttler originally made the move to Lancashire from Somerset ahead of the 2014 season. Since then, he has established himself as a cornerstone of the England national team, playing a pivotal role in the historic 2019 ODI World Cup victory and later captaining the Three Lions to the T20 World Cup title in Australia in 2022.
Under the terms of the new agreement, which runs in parallel with his England Central Contract, Buttler's domestic appearances for Lancashire will be focused on the Vitality Blast. Aside from his commitments in The Hundred, the T20 tournament remains the only domestic competition he participates in alongside his packed international schedule.
“It always means a great deal to pull on the Red Rose. My international commitments mean I can’t be around as much as I’d like, but whenever I do get the chance to play or spend time with the group, it’s something I really value. Winning the Blast with Lancashire in 2015 was such a proud moment for myself and for the Club and it would be great to play my part in another success in the years ahead. I’m delighted to extend my T20 contract and I’m looking forward to contributing on the field and helping the squad in any way I can in the push for Vitality Blast success over the next few seasons,” Jos Buttler said on Lancashire’s official website.
During the previous season's Vitality Blast, Jos Buttler made a strong impact for Lancashire by scoring 239 runs across seven matches, maintaining an impressive strike-rate of 143.97 and smashing three half-centuries. His contributions helped guide the Lancashire Lightning to the tournament's Finals Day in 2025, where their title hopes were ultimately cut short by a semi-final defeat to the eventual champions, Somerset.

Currently, the 35-year-old is showcasing his talents in IPL 2026, where he is representing the Gujarat Titans, who have already qualified for the playoffs. Buttler has enjoyed a highly productive campaign, racking up 469 runs in 14 matches at a blistering strike-rate of 155.29 to help power his team into the playoffs, where they are scheduled to face the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in the first Qualifier.
