The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League is all set to take centre stage again and will begin on March 21. The season's first matchup will be between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders. Reliance Jio said ahead of the competition that, with specific pricing plans, cricket fans would be able to watch the IPL for free on JioHotstar. On Monday, March 17, Reliance Jio, the biggest telecom provider in India in terms of users, said that its customers will be able to watch the IPL for free for the next two and a half months if they recharged for more than Rs 299.
According to the company, the deal allows consumers to watch matches on the recently combined JioHotstar streaming service, which is a joint venture between Reliance and Disney. From March 22 to May 25, the IPL, a very profitable and extensively streamed event, will take place.
How can you watch IPL 2025 for free?
Here are the following conditions for the offer:
Recharge or buy a Jio SIM between March 17 and March 31
Existing Jio users: A recharge of Rs 299 or a higher plan that provides at least 1.5GB per day is needed
New Jio users: Get and activate a new Jio SIM with a Rs 299 or higher plan
Add-on data plan: Users who recharged before March 17 can get the offer by purchasing a 100 add-on pack.
This statement comes after Reuters reported a month earlier that the Reliance-Disney joint venture would no longer stream IPL matches for free, as it had done in 2023 and 2024 on the former JioCinema website. Rather, the new model will implement a hybrid strategy in which, following a predetermined level of material consumption, subscriptions will be necessary.
A 50-day trial of Reliance Jio's high-speed broadband internet services is also part of the new plan, which aims to increase the company's market share in the home internet sector by enabling uninterrupted sports streaming.
