Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody believes that Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni will unlikely to feature as a player in the next edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni is currently facing a lot of criticism after CSK failed to perform in the IPL 2025. The five-time champions became the first team to be eliminated from the 18th edition of the cash-rich league.
Moody, who served as a coach in Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), believes that MS Dhoni won't feature in the next edition of the tournament, but he is the one who will decide about his future in the tournament.
"I'd be very surprised if we see him back as a player. I think he definitely needs to be back in that CSK camp, but as a player, I think it is probably unlikely. But again, that is a decision that only he can make. At the end of the day, it only gets harder, the older you get, particularly when you are not playing all year round and earmarking two months of the year for the IPL," Moody said.
MS Dhoni also addressed his future after the team's win against the Kolkata Knight Riders, saying that he would have to work hard on his body to turn up for one more season.

"A lot of them (crowd) don’t know when it is going to be my last time, so they want to come and see me play. There is no escaping the fact that I am in the last phase of my career. After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another 6-8 months to see if my body can take this pressure," Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.
CSK has had a forgettable campaign as they managed to win just three matches out of 13 and are currently at number 10 in the points table. The MS Dhoni-led side are currently in Ahmedabad preparing for their last clash of the tournament against Gujarat Titans (GT), which is scheduled to take place on May 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
