The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to start from March 21, 2025. In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, confirmed that the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league will start from March 21 and the final will take place on May 25.
Earlier, BCCI revealed the tentative date of IPL 2025 which was March 14. The last edition of the cash-rich league was started from March 22 and the opener clash was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings(CSK).
Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the last edition of the IPL defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final.
The upcoming edition of the tournament is to start right after the Champions Trophy 2025. This ICC event is scheduled to start on February 19 and the final will take place on March 9. BCCI also announced the dates of IPL 2026 and IPL 2027. The 2026 season is to start from March 15 and its final is proposed on May 31. The 2027 event will start from March 14 and run till May 30.

Apart from that, IPL has announced the appointment of a new commissioner for a one-year term. The next meeting, scheduled for January 18-19, will focus on finalising the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. With the IPL set to begin on March 23, the newly appointed BCCI secretary emphasised the busy schedule ahead, noting the back-to-back events that will demand significant attention and coordination.
There will be major changes in the upcoming edition of the IPL as former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and KL Rahul who captained LSG in the last edition of the tournament has been picked by DC in the IPL 2025 mega auction took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
