IPL 2025 mega auction: The thirteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a cricketing prodigy from Bihar, scripted history in the IPL 2025 mega auction after being signed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a staggering Rs 1.10 crore. With this the batting prodigy became the youngest player ever to be signed in an IPL auction. Vaibhav Suryavanshi looked like a hot property in the IPL 2025 mega auction as the teen star sparked a bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. However, it was former champions RR, who ended up acquiring him.

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Hailing from Samastipur, Suryavanshi's talent isn't unknown to the cricketing arena.He made his Ranji Trophy debut at the tender age of 12 years and 284 days, becoming the youngest player in the tournament's history. WIth this sensational feat he surpassed records held by cricketing legends like Yuvraj Singh, who debuted at the age of 15 years and 57 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at 15 years and 230 days.

Suryavanshi's talent further came to the fore during the Youth Test series against Australia in Chennai, where he scored a blistering 104 runs off just 62 balls.

At the tender age of 13 years and 188 days, Suryavanshi etched his name in history by becoming the youngest centurion in the 170-year history of competitive cricket. He also set a record for the fastest century by an Indian at the youth level, achieving the feat in just 58 balls. This remarkable achievement places him second on the list of fastest youth centuries, trailing only England's Moeen Ali, who accomplished the feat in 56 balls.
