IPL 2025 Purple Cap Standings: Shardul Thakur rises to 2nd spot, 3 Gujarat Titans bowlers in top 5

Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) replacement player Shardul Thakur is in the contention to win the purple cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. With two wickets for 34 runs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a winning cause, Thakur has take the second spot, just below Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) left-arm chinaman bowler Noor Ahmad.

Thakur was impressive in slog overs and got the wickets of Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia off consecutive deliveries. He helped LSG restrict Gujarat Titans (GT) to 180/6 despite both openers scoring half-centuries.

Siraj and Kishore miss out but Krishna climbs up

GT bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore had a bad day at the office. Siraj conceded 50 runs in his quota of four overs and remained wicketless in Lucknow. Left-arm spinner Kishore was very expensive as he conceded 35 runs from just 1.3 overs and remained wicketless as well. They missed out the opportunity to take the purple cap from Noor.

However, GT pacer Prasidh Krishna climbed several spots to take the third position. He took two wickets for 26 runs in his quota of four overs. He dismissed openers Aiden Markram and LSG captain Rishabh Pant. But, GT ended up losing to the home side by six wickets.

Harshal in top 15

The second game of the double header Saturday was a run-fest in Hyderabad. Mohammed Shami went for 75 runs from four overs, most expensive spell by an Indian in the IPL history. Harshal Patel took four wickets for 42 runs and took the 13th spot. Arshdeep Singh went for plenty but got the wicket of a rampant Abhishek Sharma who scored 141 runs from 55 balls. He is 16th in the list of leading wicket-takers on the list.

4 bowlers' chance to move into top 5

On April 13, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav will look to make a place in the top five. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Josh Hazlewood can make a place in top five as well in the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
