Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Siraj put his name in contention for the purple cap with a four-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Siraj is now placed second with nine wickets from four games, only behind Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) left-arm chinaman bowler Noor Ahmad. Siraj achieved a milestone as well. He completed 100 wickets in his IPL career. He became the 26th bowler to do so in the league's history.
Siraj's teammate, left-arm spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore entered the purple cap race too with a couple of wickets against SRH. He is in fourth position, slightly ahead of CSK's Khaleel Ahmed and Mumbai Indians' (MI) Hardik Pandya.
There is no SRH bowler in the top 10. Mohammed Shami who picked two wickets in a losing cause made his place in the top 20. Shami has five wickets from as many games. He was economical against GT conceding 28 runs and dismissing opener Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar.

Pandya, Hazlewood can move up
A few changes to the top five are expected as MI take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium on April 7. If Pandya takes a few wickets, he can become the leading wicket-taker in the season and take the purple cap from Noor. RCB's Josh Hazlewood who has six wickets from three games can enter the top five as well. MI's young guns Vignesh Puthur and Ashwani Kumar can move into top 10 if they get a few wickets against RCB at the franchise's homeground.
