Following their victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have climbed one spot in the IPL 2025 points table, moving from ninth to eighth position. This win also marked a big milestone for the Hyderabad-based franchise, as it was their first-ever away victory against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the history of Indian Premier League.
This historic triumph has earned Sunrisers Hyderabad a total of six points in the league standings. This represents their third win of the tournament so far, having played a total of nine matches.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings remain rooted at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table in 10th position. CSK have accumulated only four points from their nine matches played. Their net run rate has further deteriorated to -1.302 following their five-wicket defeat at the hands of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Talking about the match, in the first innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad's disciplined bowling attack successfully restricted Chennai Super Kings to a total of 154 runs. The standout performer with the ball for SRH was medium pacer Harshal Patel, who delivered a match-winning spell, claiming four crucial wickets. For CSK, Dewald Brevis top-scored with a quickfire 42 runs off just 25 deliveries, while young Ayush Mhatre continued to impress in his debut IPL season, contributing another valuable cameo at the top of the order with 30 runs off 18 balls. Despite a few stumbles during their run chase, Sunrisers Hyderabad ultimately secured victory, thanks to an unbroken 49-run partnership between Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Reddy, who guided their team across the finish line.
