Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer combined to hand Punjab Kings (PBKS) a comfortable eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash at the Ekana cricket stadium on April 1, Tuesday. While chasing a 172-run target, Shreyas Iyer sealed the deal for PBKS in style, hitting a six over mid-wicket to score the winning runs and simultaneously reach his second half-century of the season. His composed innings, combined with Prabhsimran Singh's earlier fifty and Nehal Wadhera's brisk cameo, ensured that PBKS completed the run chase comfortably with 22 balls remaining.
After a solid score of 97 in the previous match, Iyer appeared determined to continue his good form. He started his innings cautiously, allowing Prabhsimran Singh to take on the responsibility of aggressive scoring during the powerplay. Digvesh Rathi was the only Lucknow Super Giants bowler to claim wickets, dismissing both of Punjab's opening batsmen. Arshdeep Singh demonstrated his bowling prowess, making crucial breakthroughs both early in the innings and in the final overs. His three-wicket haul made him the standout bowler for the Punjab Kings in this encounter.
PBKS will now take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 5 while LSG will face Mumbai Indians on April 4.
