Rajasthan Royal's star opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is making every innings count, smashing two sixes off Jasprit Bumrah in a truncated 11-over-per side IPL 2026 game against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday (April 7) in Guwahati. The 15-year-old batter ended up scoring 39 runs off just 13 deliveries which consisted of five sixes and one four.
Irfan Pathan reacts to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's fearless approach against Bumrah
Former India cricketer, Irfan Pathan is highly impressed with Sooryavanshi's attacking mindset and how he forced Bumrah to change his plans.
"The way Bumrah had no plans visible, the way he moved to the slower one – Vaibhav Suryavanshi has forced even Bumrah to think," said Pathan on his official YouTube Channel.
Pathan admitted that achieving such a feat against a bowler of Jasprit Bumrah's quality is no joke at all, given the MI pacer's stature as one of the best. Reflecting on Sooryavanshi's intent, Pathan noted that the 15-year-old batter focuses solely on the ball rather than the bowler, which is a superior quality.
"In white-ball cricket, India has not found a bowler like Bumrah. He is a GOAT. And this feat has been achieved against him. Whatever bowler comes in front, he does not watch his action, does not think too much. He only watches the ball. If he gets it, he hits it. This thinking makes him very special," added Pathan
