Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan has confirmed that captain Shubman Gill will return for their Indian Premier League 2026 match against Delhi Capitals, which is scheduled to take place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Why Shubman Gill missed GT vs RR clash?
Gill had missed the last match because of muscle spasms, which ended his long streak of playing every game for the franchise over the past four years. In his absence, Rashid Khan stepped in as captain, but Gujarat lost a close match to Rajasthan Royals by six runs.

During that game, Gill was seen with bandages on his shoulder and neck, as he has been dealing with neck spasms since the 2025–26 home Test season. However, Sudharsan said the captain has now recovered and is ready to return, likely replacing Kumar Kushagra at the top of the order.
"Shubman is coming along well. He'll be playing tomorrow," Sudharsan said in the pre-match press conference.
Gujarat may also consider bringing in Jason Holder to strengthen their middle order. The pitch in Delhi is expected to be good for batting, which could lead to a high-scoring game. However, there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon, which might leave some moisture on the pitch and help fast bowlers early on.
