Indian cricketing legend Kapil Dev has dropped his sensational take on the Rajasthan Royals' young sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and the growing hype around him. Sooryavanshi, who made his IPL debut last season for RR, has quickly become one of the most talked-about cricketers over the last one and a half years.
And it's because of some of the most explosive knocks he has played in the last two seasons. After many legendary cricketers recognized his talent, Kapil Dev also shared his views about the 15-year-old recently.

Kapil Dev's blunt take on Sooryavanshi
During an event, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain was asked about Sooryavanshi, to which he replied and said that he doesn't have much idea about him, and he watches whatever has been put on television about the youngster. He also emphasized that he just watches cricket and avoids making any judgment.
"I don't know because I haven't seen that. I am like you people. Whatever you put on TV, I see, and I try to make sense out of that. I watch cricket at home on TV, and then giving judgment is not correct," Kapil Dev said on Sunday.
He further added that the commentators and the other former cricketers, like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Harsha Bhogle, who have been watching closely, should be the ones to comment on it.
"People who talk and see everybody, they are better. Like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, or Harsha Bhogle, they can make more sense than I can," he added."
Why is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hyped so much
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke into headlines when he made his Indian Premier League debut at a tender age of 14 in 2025, and in just the second match of his IPL career, the youngster hit the second-fastest century in the league's history against the Gujarat Titans. He hit 101 off 38 deliveries to become the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket.
This season, he has already hit 404 runs in ten games he has played so far while boasting an incredible strike rate of 238 while averaging 40.4; these stats also involve the third fastest century he hit against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking only 26 balls to reach the 100-run mark.
