Gujarat Titans' skipper Shubman Gill has opened up on which young Indian player he wants to represent his side in the IPL. In a recent video shared by Star Sports, India's Test and ODI skipper was asked to name one promising Indian player from a rival team he would like to feature in his side.

Without wasting any time, Shubman Gill named Rajasthan Royals' teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The young opener has been in fine form in the ongoing IPL 2026, making an instant impact at the top of the order for Rajasthan Royals.

Currently, Gujarat Titans are facing a slight struggle, sitting seventh on the points table with just two points in hand after playing three matches with a Net Run Rate of -0.270. The Gujarat-based franchise secured their maiden win of the season against Delhi Capitals by just one run, while defending a total of 210.

Across 10 games in IPL, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has managed to score 374 runs at an exceptional strike rate of 218.71. He holds the feat for being the youngest debutant and the youngest centurion in the history of IPL. Sooryavanshi scored his maiden century in the league against Gujrat Titans.

In the ongoing IPL 2026 season, the 15-year-old batter has been going through a red-hot form, amassing 122 runs in three outings at an average of 40.67 with a thunderous strike rate of 248.98, consisting of 11 sixes and 10 fours.
He smashed a 15-ball half-century in their season opener against Chennai Super Kings followed up with a fantastic 31 runs of 18 balls consisting of five fours and one six, before smashing 39 runs of just 14 balls including five massive sixes and one boundary.
