PBKS lost to RCB by 6 runs in IPL 2025 final to miss shot at their first title

Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta came out with an emotional post on her team after their heartbreaking defeat in the IPL 2025 final. Preity Zinta shared her thoughts on the team's performance in the recently concluded IPL 2025. The franchise reached its second final in the history of the IPL but ultimately fell short, losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by a narrow margin of 6 runs in the title clash held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. Despite the final result, it was a remarkable season for PBKS. The team showcased impressive form, securing victory in nine out of their fourteen league matches, suffering only four defeats, with one game ending without a result. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings dominated the league stage, finishing at the top of the points table with a total of 19 points.

Their journey to the final involved a mixed bag of results in the playoffs. In Qualifier 1, PBKS faced a setback, losing to RCB by 8 wickets. However, they bounced back strongly in Qualifier 2, defeating Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets and securing their place in the final. Unfortunately for the Shreyas Iyer-led side, their quest for a maiden IPL title ended in disappointment as they were unable to capitalize on their second chance in the final, losing by a close margin to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

"It didn't end the way we wanted it to but....the journey was spectacular ! It was exciting, entertaining & it was inspiring. I loved the fight & the grit our young team, our shers showed throughout the tournament.  I loved the way our captain, our Sarpanch lead from the front & how Indian uncapped players dominated this IPL !. This year was unique. We smashed records even though we lost key and players to injury & national duty, witnessed a pause in the tournament, transferred home games to other states & evacuated a stadium ! We adapted & topped the points table after a decade & fought till the end in an exciting final," Preity wrote on X

"I am so proud of  each n every player of @PunjabKingsIPL for showing so much character throughout the tournament. A big thank you to each of them and to our support staff and everyone at PBKS for an incredible season. Most of all a HEARTFELT THANK YOU  to  our - SHER SQUAD - our FANS that stood with us through thick n thin.  Whatever we are & how far we have reached is all because of you. I promise we will come back to finish the job cuz as of now the job is still half done. See you next year in the stadium , till then take care n stay safe everyone. Love you all. Ting! Sher Squad | Sadda Punjab," her post further read.

Although PBKS were unable to secure their long-awaited first IPL title, the final did mark a historic moment for their opponents, RCB, who ended up clinching their first title in 18 years.

However, during the post-match presentation, PBKS Shreyas Iyer captain vowed to win the IPL title next year.

"I am very proud of each and every individual who participated in the team. Lot of youngsters played their first season. The fearless nature they showed was simply amazing. Hats off to the entire management and all the players. The job is still half done as we want to win the trophy next year," Iyer had said at the post-match presentation.
