Gujarat Titans (GT) secured another fighting win in IPL 2026, by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets with one ball to spare at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT all-rounder Jason Holder was given Player of the Match award for his superb bowling effort with ball to dismantle Shreyas Iyer-led side's batting order, taking 4/24 in four overs at an economy rate of 6.00.
Jason Holder reveals key to success for GT
At the post match presentation, Holder revealed the success mantra for the Gujarat based side in the ongoing season and what they have been doing right to rise up in the points table.
The Caribbean all-rounder said that Gujarat have a pretty solid bunch of players who are doing jobs perfectly to help the team. Rather than relying on one standout performer, the team's success has been driven by different individuals rising to the occasion in each game.
"I think you’ve summarised it quite nicely. I guess that has pretty much been our template for this season, and for previous seasons as well. We’ve got some solid players, and the beauty of how we’ve been playing is that it’s not one individual doing it every single day," said Holder.
While talking further, Holder admitted that the team has failed to deliver a single collective performance but has managed to win important games to stay alive in the competition.
"Different players are stepping up on different days. So I think we’re still arguably yet to play our best game, but the beauty of that is that we’re still getting the two points each time we cross the line," added Holder.
Gujarat Titans' position in IPL 2026 points table
After a close win against PBKS, GT sit at the fifth position in the table with 12 points after playing 10 games into the season (six wins and four losses) at a net run rate of -0.147.
GT will have a small rest before they face Riyan Parag's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash on Saturday, May 9 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
