Mumbai Indians' pacer juggernaut Jasprit Bumrah is set to achieve a historic milestone on April 16, when Paltan will take on Punjab Kings at the Wankhede stadium. By making his 150th appearance for MI, he will become the first-ever pace bowler in the franchise's history to bag this special feat in IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah to make 150th appearance for MI in IPL
This feat surpasses even the legendary Lasith Malinga, who donned the MI colors for 122 matches. Since making his debut with the team, Bumrah has remained a one-club man, with the franchise consistently showing faith in him through re-signings and retentions in the 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2025 mega-auctions.
While now a cornerstone of the squad, Bumrah wasn't always a permanent fixture in the starting XI. His trajectory changed significantly after his international debut for India in 2016, after which he evolved into the spearhead of Mumbai’s bowling attack. Over his career with the franchise, he has claimed 183 wickets, a tally that includes two impressive five-wicket hauls. In comparison, Lasith Malinga, who played from 2009 until the 2019 final, concluded his storied MI career with 170 wickets.
Rohit Sharma leads the elite list
In terms of overall appearances, Rohit Sharma continues to lead the pack for Mumbai Indians with 231 matches in IPL. Although Rohit began his IPL journey with the Deccan Chargers in 2008, he became synonymous with the Mumbai franchise after joining in 2011. Before his recent removal as captain, Rohit led the team to a record-tying five IPL titles, cementing his legacy as the most successful leader in the club's history.
Then comes Kieron Pollard, who holds the second spot on the list of most appearances for MI. A cornerstone of the franchise for over a decade, the former vice-captain suited up for 189 matches between his debut in 2010 and his retirement in 2022. His relationship with the team has continued beyond his playing days, as he seamlessly transitioned into a role within the MI coaching staff.
Rounding out the top five are two other iconic figures in the club's history. Harbhajan Singh occupies the fourth position, having played 136 matches during a decade-long tenure that included a stint as captain. He is followed by the current skipper, Hardik Pandya, who sits in fifth place with 124 appearances for the Paltans.
